What is Ground Pork?

Ground pork is made from pork shoulder, also known as pork butt or Boston butt, and sometimes includes trimmed ends of the loin.

Where This Cut Comes From

Pork shoulder is a relatively tough and inexpensive cut of meat layered with fat that comes from the pig’s shoulder region. A pork loin is wider and flatter, and can be a boneless or bone-in cut of meat. Pork loin comes from the back of the animal.
